Once a month, I hope to try a recipe from the back of a Hallmark Publishing book. Will I recreate it successfully? Or will it be an epic fail? Honestly, it’s going to be a crap shoot most times, lol. But I’m willing to try and share my wins and losses here. Shoutout to Emma, The Hallremark, for the great idea!
For this first foray into Hallmark Cooking, I thought there’d be no better place to start than Hallmark’s first original novel, Sunrise Cabin. In the book, Paige finds an old recipe for muffins tucked away in drawer in the cabin she’s renting– and hoping to purchase. The recipe, it turns out, is an old family recipe of Dylan’s, aka her competitor for the cabin. The muffins turn into a sort of olive branch throughout the story, even when Paige burns a batch.
Did I suffer the same fate? Thankfully, no, I didn’t burn them, but I do think I over baked the first dozen. And I’m TERRIBLE at waiting for baked goods to cool before applying any type of icing, so my muffins came out shiny instead of artfully drizzled. In the end, they were a hit with family and coworkers and I can easily see these becoming a regular weekend treat.

Full recipe can be found here. It says that yields 12 muffins, but I ended up getting 18 out of the mix. If you try this recipe, let me know how it goes!
