I’ve got a new look, y’all and I’m LOVING it. This new layout/design is not that different looking from my previous one, but it’s without a doubt a much better built theme. All credit goes to 17th Avenue Designs, who did the hard work– I just installed it and fell in love.
I’ve been a fan of 17th Avenue Designs for years, but never had the chance to use any of her themes, as I had been a Squarespace user for a number of years. I made the decision to go back to self-hosting around June of this year and bought a cheap theme that I liked well enough and figured I could customize myself.
I was wrong.
It’s true what they say– you get what you pay for and in this case, I really did. The shop I purchased the theme from closed shortly after, offering no support, and a third of the plugins they used in their theme were no longer working, aka it was a mess. Serviceable for the time being, but a mess nonetheless.
Around Thanksgiving, I had had enough and wanted a better home for this here blog. It was then that I remembered 17th Avenue Designs. I excitedly pulled up their website to find that they were having a Black Friday sale and it was fate, y’all. FATE.
I spent an embarrassingly long amount of time going through each theme that struck my fancy and playing around on their demo sites. I finally decided on this theme, Uptown, and had it purchased, installed, and up and running by the next day. It couldn’t have been easier and I’m thrilled with the results. And there are a ton of features I have yet to use but have plans for in the future, so to say I’m excited is an understatement.
What do you think? You like the new digs??
